Southern Africa – Day 1 – Travelling to South Africa

to

We had an early morning start and after saying goodbye to the animals were driven up to the airport, had 2 notifications of 1-hour delays…oh joy we are off to a good start!

The 14-hr flight, 2 hr delay & bus trip to the terminal from where the plane bay was, took its toll, we looked like a zombie with our eyes hanging out of our heads coming off the plane.

We made it …. Hello Johannesburg South Africa. Our full itinerary, for the next 51 days can be see here https://itinerary.drivebotswana.com/Itinerary/Landing/f4186a24-8293-4fc0-96d7-9ec2cef61987

Immigrations was easy & there was no customs – hope this continues thru to the other countries.

It was a 35 min drive to our accommodation – Melville manor – so we didn’t get to see much, though the roads we travelled on were all 1st class freeways, which I hadn’t pictured. We saw J’burgh city centre lit up at night, high rises and lights- just like you would see at Sydney.

The hotel is quaint, you walk into the main house, where breakfast is served, and past a sitting room to the outside terrace area which leads to the pool, our rooms are straight off there. No 6 & 7 ( Brendan has his own room)

You walk thru a French door to the bedroom – ours looks out to the terrace & pool – Brendan is next door– we also have a jasmine bush outside the door- smells lovely.

After having a shower & freshening up we crashed for the night.
